BEIJING, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- For those of you who may have already got bored with monotonous museum crafts, here is a refreshing feast for the eyes.

POTATO MAKEUP

A 15-second clip on the video app TikTok which features a sassy full-face makeover of a spud has recently gone viral.

Flexing her makeup skills by applying foundation, eyebrow pencil, eyeliner and even lipstick onto a potato before beautifying it with a miniature blonde wig, the user has not only attracted a lot of "likes" on social media, but also competitors who are passing on a "potato makeup challenge."

POTHOLE ARTS

Chicago artist Jim Bachor makes dull roads lively with his playful pothole mosaic arts.

Bachor scouts out suitable potholes in dilapidated streets in Chicago, fills them with concrete and adorns them with hand-cut pieces of brightly-colored mosaic tiles in a contemporary style.

According to his own website, the artist shuns "beat-up" streets likely to be re-paved soon, and selects potholes in a safe location that are noticeable for pedestrians.

PET PRISMATIC PORTRAITS

Shaunna Russell, a mother of two and a self-taught artist in New York State, stepped into the spotlight when Britain-based Insider featured her unique watercolor animal paintings on social media last week.

For every pet she paints, she first asks for a few photos of the pet, plus a full account of its personality. Then she starts to work on a special clay surface that allows her to detail the expressions or even the wrinkles of the pet in her paintings.

With more than 40,000 followers on her Instagram, Russell's watercolors are increasingly appreciated and in demand across the world, proving that with a passion for life and a keen interest in the arts, anyone could potentially turn a blank canvas into something incredible!
