BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Former Argentina international midfielder Pablo Perez has left Boca Juniors to join their Buenos Aires rivals Independiente.
Independiente agreed to a 12-month loan deal on Monday with the option of securing the 33-year-old on a permanent deal at the end of the year.
"Pablo has great personality, fantastic technique, is good in the air and has a lot of experience," Independiente manager Ariel Holan said in a club statement.
Independiente, currently seventh in the Superliga Argentina standings, returned from a month-long summer break with a 2-0 league victory over Gimnasia last Saturday.
Perez, who has been capped once for Argentina's national team, was captain of the Boca Juniors side that lost to River Plate in the Copa Libertadores final last month.
