FRANKFURT, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- German stocks edged down on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index down 18.57 points, or 0.17 percent, to close at 11,071.54 points.
Material manufacturer Covestro lost 2.08 percent, the top loser among the blue chips. It was followed by chemical group BASF and multinational chemical firm Linde, which lost 1.83 percent and 1.73 percent respectively.
Energy group RWE gained 5.09 percent, becoming the top gainer. German airlines Lufthansa and global internet technology and financial services provider Wirecard advanced 3.33 percent and 1.98 percent respectively.
RWE was the most traded share with a turnover of 207.4 million euros (234.3 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
