PHNOM PENH, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen's visit to China concluded with fruitful results for bilateral ties and cooperation, officials and analysts said here on Thursday.

Hun Sen arrived home on Wednesday afternoon after a four-day visit to Beijing, where he held talks with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang and other Chinese leaders as well as business executives.

"It was a successful visit. Through it, the prime minister has brought a lot of achievements and interests to Cambodia and the Cambodian people," Kao Kim Hourn, a minister attached to the Cambodian prime minister, told a press conference at the Phnom Penh International Airport on Wednesday.

A series of cooperation documents in the fields of people's livelihood promotion, transport, and infrastructure, were signed during the visit, he said, noting that one of them was the agreement on the promotion of investment cooperation under China's Belt and Road Initiative and Cambodia's Rectangular Strategy.

Through the visit, he said the Cambodia-China relations, especially in politics, economy, trade, investment, and tourism, would be further enhanced.

INJECTING NEW IMPETUS FOR BILATERAL TIES, COOPERATION

Mey Kalyan, chairman of the state-run Royal University of Phnom Penh's board of trustees, said the visit had added a new momentum to the bilateral cooperation.

"It is our privilege and honor for the Cambodian people that our prime minister was invited to have an official visit to China at time of increasing uncertainties in the international relation," he told Xinhua on Thursday.

"The visit represented as a good occasion for top leaders of both countries to reaffirm their friendship and strong commitment to a win-win and bright relation of the two countries for a long future," he said.

Joseph Matthews, a senior professor at the Beltei International University, said the visit helped further strengthen Sino-Cambodian friendship and cooperation in the fields of infrastructure development, economy, trade, investment and tourism.

"From the prime minister's visit, Cambodia stands to gain a lot in terms of economic assistance, infrastructural development, agriculture system improvement, human resource development, political mileage and last but not least strengthening people-to-people interaction and communication between the two nations," he told Xinhua on Thursday.

"This visit will also help attract more foreign direct investments (FDIs) from China to Cambodia, and encourage more Chinese tourists to Cambodia," he said.

HUN SEN'S TRIP TO CHINA DRAWS LOCAL MEDIA'S ATTENTION

The visit had become the headlines of local media in Cambodia, including the country's largest Khmer-language newspaper, Rasmei Kampuchea Daily, and English-language media.

The Rasmei Kampuchea Daily rounded up all Hun Sen's activities in Beijing, saying that his visit has brought great benefits to Cambodia, especially in politics, trade, investment and tourism.

The newspaper added that the visit would pave the way for Cambodia to export more agricultural products to Chinese markets.

The Phnom Penh Post published a front-page article titled "Hun Sen and Xi herald continued strong ties", mentioning that China and Cambodia would strive to boost the bilateral trade volume to 10 billion U.S. dollars by 2023.

Besides print media, online media and TV channels have also broadly reported on Hun Sen's trip to China.

Fresh News, the kingdom's largest online media website, covered the Cambodian prime minister's activities in China from the beginning until the end.
