U.S. oil inventories increase last week: EIA

HOUSTON, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- U.S. crude oil inventories increased in the week ending Jan. 25, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in a report on Wednesday.

According to the Weekly Petroleum Status Report, U.S. commercial crude oil inventories, excluding those in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, increased by 900,000 barrels from the previous week. At 445.9 million barrels, U.S. crude oil inventories were about 7 percent above the five-year average for this time of year.

In the previous week ending Jan. 18, EIA reported a build of 8 million barrels of U.S. crude oil inventories.

Total motor gasoline inventories in the United States decreased by 2.2 million barrels last week, about 5 percent above the five-year average for this time of year.

Finished gasoline and blending components inventories both decreased last week in the country. Distillate fuel inventories decreased by 1.1 million barrels last week, about 2 percent below the five-year average for this time of year.
