HONG KONG, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Avenue of Stars, one of the most popular attractions in China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), on Wednesday held the reopening ceremony after the three-year revitalization work.

Five winners of Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards participated in the ceremony and imprinted their hands for display at the avenue on the waterfront of Tsim Sha Tsui.

Besides the handprints of the five actresses, handprints of four more actresses as well as Hong Kong cartoon character Mcdull will also be presented to add to the appeal of the avenue.

The avenue will reopen to public on Thursday with enhanced landscape design, improved amenities for visitors, more shaded and green areas and additional elements related to the film industry.

To facilitate visitors to get up close to the handprints, the original handprints located on the pavement were moved to the wooden handrails for a better view with the Victoria Harbor in the background.

Since its opening in 2004, the Avenue of Stars has been one of the most visited destinations in Hong Kong. In order to update the avenue to a world-class landmark, the HKSAR government closed it for revitalization in 2015.
