SHIJIAZHUANG, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- A nurse accused of giving the wrong vaccines to 29 children, confessed to seeking monetary gain while working at a community clinic in Shijiazhuang, capital of north China's Hebei Province, local authorities said Sunday.

The nurse surnamed Guan has been detained and confessed that she intentionally switched the vaccines administered to 29 children to HIB vaccines, which are around 500 yuan (about 74 U.S. dollars) cheaper than the pentavalent vaccines.

Wei Jingli, head of the community clinic, was detained by police on Friday.

The practicing license of the community clinic, Wei's medical license and Guan's nurse license have been revoked, according to the health department of Shijiazhuang's Qiaoxi district.

The 29 children concerned have been checked and received pentavalent vaccines, said an official with the district government.

Two officials with the district's center for disease control have been fired and are under investigation for any malfeasance.
