LONDON, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Sergio 'Kun' Aguero scored a hat-trick on Sunday as Manchester City recovered from their surprise 2-1 defeat in Newcastle in midweek to beat Arsenal 3-1 and move to within two points of Premier League leaders, Liverpool, who play away to West Ham United on Monday night.

Pep Guardiola's side needed a positive start after their midweek display and got it after just 45 seconds when the Argentinean headed home a cross from Aymeric Laporte, who played at left back with Fernandinho a surprise choice in central defense.

Laurent Koscielny headed Arsenal level just 10 minutes later and the visitors played some nice football before Aguero hit them with another goal a minute before halftime and then killed the game off when he completed his hat-trick 16 minutes into the second half.

Heung Min-Song made Tottenham fans wait before his 83rd minute strike gave Spurs their second win inside of a week as they beat Newcastle United 1-0 at Wembley to remain just two points behind City and four behind Liverpool.

It was far from vintage Tottenham against a rival who were content to defend deep, but another win without the injured Harry Kane allowed Spurs coach Manuel Pochettino (a summer target for Chelsea and Manchester United according to some Sunday papers) to insist his side still "believe in" themselves.

Manchester United coach Ole Gunnar Soljskaer dropped a big hint on Saturday that he would like the United job on a permanent basis, saying his Norwegian club, 'Molde' had told him they don't want to see him back and his case for a permanent deal was strengthened by an early Marcos Rashford goal which gave his team a 1-0 win away to Leicester City.

A ninth win in 10 games under Soljskaer moves United up to fifth in the table and the Champions League place which looked lost before Jose Mourinho was sacked two months ago, now looks a real possibility.

Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri has had a tough couple of days following the 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth after which he again criticized the motivation of his players.

Huddersfield provided the perfect tonic for Chelsea's woes as the 'Blues' put five goals past a rival who appear to have an express ticket to the Championship.

New signing Gonzalo Higuain scored twice and allowed Eden Hazard, (who also netted two goals) more freedom, to demonstrate he could be the answer to some of Chelsea's attacking woes.

The 0-0 draw between Brighton and Watford kicked off and 90 minutes later ended without a great deal happening in either penalty area, while Burnley and Southampton took a point each at Turf Moor.

An improving Southampton were moments away from taking all three points following Neil Redmond's 55th minute shot, but a needless handball allowed Ashley Barnes to keep his nerve and net a 94th minute penalty.

There were emotive scenes at Cardiff when players and fans remembered striker Emiliano Sala, who died in a plane crash while flying over from France to join the club and two goals from Bobby Reid gave the Welsh side three vital points in their battle to avoid relegation.

A Luka Milijovecic penalty and a late goal from Jeffrey Schlupp saw Crystal Palace to a 2-0 win at home to struggling Fulham to lift Palace 4 points clear of relegation, while leaving Fulham seven points from safety.

Finally Nuno Espiritu Santo won the duel between Portuguese coaches against Marco Silva as Wolves won 3-1 at Goodison Park to leave the Everton boss is a very delicate situation after a run of poor results and worse performances.
