Singapore stocks close lower

SINGAPORE, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks (SGX) closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.13 percent, or 4.12 points, to close at 3,184.56.

A total of 1.36 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 484.55 million Singapore dollars (about 358.23 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 169 to 148.

The STI index went down 0.05 percent, or 1.49 point, to close at 3,188.68 last Friday.

It is a half-day trading day on Monday for stock trading at Singapore Exchange. The stock trading closed at 12:06 p.m., when STI stood at 3,186.58 according to SGX website. But the index turned to 3,184.56 minutes later.

The trading will be suspended on Tuesday and Wednesday due to the Chinese New Year holiday.
