BEIRUT, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's President Michel Aoun vowed Thursday that the programs prepared by the United Nations in cooperation with the Lebanese government will be implemented now after the new cabinet is formed.
"Lebanon needs these support programs as it suffered from great damages due to the wars that erupted in the region, especially the civil war in neighboring Syria," Aoun was quoted as saying by Lebanon's Presidency Website.
Aoun's remarks came during his meeting with Philippe Lazzarini, deputy UN special coordinator for Lebanon, at Baabda Palace in Beirut.
Lazzarini also assured that the United Nations will continue to offer its support to Lebanon on all levels while emphasizing the UN's plans to cooperate with the new cabinet in implementing partnership programs in the country.
The overall objective of the UN reform process is to make the United Nations a strong and effective partner to support countries in achieving sustainable development goals, added Lazzarini.
