TOKYO, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened lower Friday on trade concerns and the European Commission slashing its eurozone growth forecasts for 2019 and 2020.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 269.27 points, or 1.30 percent, from Thursday to 20,482.01.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 20.31 points, or 1.29 percent, at 1,548.72.
Oil and coal product, machinery, and metal product-linked issues comprised early issues that notably lost ground in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
