SARAJEVO, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- The phytosanitary inspection of Republika Srpska (RS), one of the entities in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), has forbidden the import of tangerine from Turkey on Thursday due to the increased amount of pesticides found.

During an inspection of the consignment, the competent inspector carried out sampling for laboratory analysis to test the residues of pesticides, a statement from the entity inspection said on Thursday.

According to the report on laboratory analysis, there was an increased presence of pesticide "Fenvalerate" in the analyzed sample of tangerine.

The pesticide is above the values prescribed by the Regulation on maximum levels of pesticide residues in food of plant and animal origin.

The exporter requested an additional analysis which was carried out in Serbia, confirming the increased presence of the pesticide, after which RS phytosanitary inspection brought the decision on return or destruction of tangerines already imported.
