Knife-wielding teenager in Belarus kills two at school

MINSK, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- A teenager in Belarus stabbed his teacher and a classmate to death on Monday, authorities in the country said.

Police received a message in the morning that a 15-year-old student had stabbed a teacher and several students with a knife, resulting in the two deaths. The incident took place at a school in the town of Stolbtsy, 65 km southwest of the capital, Minsk.

The attacker fled the scene, but was soon detained by police.

The teenager killed a 50-year-old history and social studies teacher and also stabbed two students who tried to protect the teacher.

Later, the teenager left the classroom and entered another room, where he stabbed a 17-year-old student, who died on the spot. The attacker then ran out of the building and tried to escape.

The two students aged 15 and 16 years were hospitalized, and their lives are not in immediate danger, according to the Belarusian Investigative Committee.
