Canadian police arrest 15 suspects in operation against int'l money-laundering

OTTAWA, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RMCP) have arrested 15 suspects in an operation against international money laundering in Quebec and Ontario Monday, according to CTV.

The RCMP also have seized more than 1 million Canadian dollars and foreign currency as well as drugs in the process of executing 11 searches in the Montreal and Greater Toronto areas, the report said.

The police has been investigating the operation since the spring of 2016, Sgt. Luc Thibault was quoted as saying.

The poice have detained 15 people so far and are seeking four more, he said.

The RMCP did not release the names and nationalities of those allegedly involved, but said expected charges include conspiracy, trafficking and laundering the proceeds of crime.
