ATHENS, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Greek cabinet was reshuffled on Friday, government spokesperson Dimitris Tzanakopoulos announced in a televised statement on state broadcaster ERT.

Most key portfolios remained unchanged.

George Katrougalos, who was serving as Alternate Foreign Affairs Minister, was appointed new Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has the portfolio since autumn from the previous reshuffle.

The new cabinet shakeup was made as two former deputy ministers will be candidates for mayors of Athens and Thessaloniki in the upcoming May local government elections.

Sia Anagnostopoulou was appointed as Alternate FM, Eleftheria Hatzigeorgiou as deputy minister of Macedonia-Thrace, and Constantinos Barkas as deputy minister for social security.

Thanos Moraitis will be the new deputy minister at the ministry for infrastructure and Angelos Tolkas, deputy minister at the migration policy ministry.

The new ministers will be sworn in Monday.
