TAIPEI, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- A total of 153,000 employees in Taiwan considered seeking a new job within one month prior to the Chinese Lunar New Year holiday which ended last week, 15,000 more than the same period in the previous year, a survey released by Taiwan's online job bank 104 showed.
The number hit a three-year high and indicated low pay and overtime work as major reasons, the survey showed.
The survey showed that the younger generation is more likely to switch jobs, with respondents saying they moved to another job within two years and six months on average after starting a job.
Those with one to five years of working experience accounted for 33.8 percent of the total potential job-hoppers.
Ideal industries for job-hoppers include artificial intelligence, green technology and environmental protection, the Internet of Things, biotechnology and medical care, as well as big data.
The Internet of Things, with an average monthly salary of 69,000 new Taiwan dollars (2,238 U.S. dollars), is the most desired field for job-hoppers.
The survey was based on questionnaires completed by 1,396 employed citizens from Jan. 14 to 21.
Taiwan's statistical agency has lowered its expected economic growth rate for 2019 to 2.27 percent, down 0.14 percentage points from its November forecast.
