Dollar increases in upper 110 yen after BOJ chief's remarks

TOKYO, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in the upper 110 yen zone in Tokyo on Tuesday as the Chief of Bank of Japan (BOJ) Haruhiko Kuroda mentioned that he would consider additional monetary easing as needed to support the Japanese economy.

At 5:00 p.m. local time, the dollar was quoted at 110.66-67 yen compared with 110.50-60 yen in London at 4:00 p.m. and 110.54-56 yen in Tokyo at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The U.S. financial markets were closed on Monday due to a national holiday. It moved between 110.45 yen and 110.71 yen during the day.

The euro fetched 1.1300-1301 dollars and 125.05-09 yen against 1.1300-1310 dollars and 125.00-05 yen in London and 1.1306-1308 dollars and 124.98-125.02 yen in Tokyo late Monday afternoon.
