ACCRA, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- The head coach of Ghana's Asante Kotoko Charles Kwablan Akonnor is optimistic that his side will get a good result in the Confederation Cup game against Zambia's Nkana FC on Sunday.

Akonnor, former Black Star's skipper, has picked 18 players who are scheduled to leave Accra on Wednesday for the third game of the 2018/2019 Confederation Cup group stage to be played at the Levy Mwanamasa stadium in Kitwe.

The team will be missing influential midfielder Richard Senanu who sustained a knee injury in Asante Kotoko's 2-1 win over Zambia's Zesco United in Kumasi last Wednesday.

Akunnor hopes to get a win or draw against Nkana FC to boost Asante Kotoko's chances of sealing qualification to the next stage of the competition.

"The main thing for us is that we want to qualify so we are working towards that," he told the local media.

"We are done with Zesco, now we looking forward to the Nkana game and it is important we go there for a win or at least a draw. It is achievable and with a bit of determination I think it is achievable."

Ahead of Sunday's game, all four teams in the group are tied on same points.

Kotoko lost to rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in the maiden edition of the Confederation Cup in 2005.
