WINDHOEK, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Namibian national soccer team, the Brave Warriors are facing an injury scare on their star player, Willy Awilo Stephanus, who sustained an ankle injury while playing for his Zambian club.

A statement released by the Namibian Football Association on Thursday confirmed that the skilful player will sit out a couple of matches in the coming weeks losing out on game time needed ahead of crunch tie against Zambia to qualify for 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

"Awilo is optimistic he will recover in time for the AFCON qualifiers match, to be played in Zamibia on the 23rd of March 2019, " NFA said.

As if the injury scare is not enough, Brave Warriors' striker Hendrick Somaeb returned home from Serbia after parting ways with his former club, FK Zemun.

This renders him clubless and unable to get more game time ahead of make or break match in Zambia.

Namibia need nothing short of a win in Zambia to book only their second ticket to the African soccer premiere tournament and the odds are strongly against them against Zambia in their backyard.
