KUWAIT CITY, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait will launch Francophonie weeks on March 10 to celebrate the International Day of Francophonie.
The announcement was made by Piet Heirbaut, the ambassador of Belgium to Kuwait, on Sunday at a press conference held at Belgium's embassy.
He said that the international organization of the Francophonie promotes a world vision based on respect for cultural and linguistic diversity. It also aims to support education, training, and research, with a special focus on young people and women.
The celebration will be a cooperation between several embassies, the Francophone cultural institutions, including several institutes of higher education, in Kuwait, the ambassador said.
The celebration will have many events such as festival of Francophone films, concerts, exhibitions, contests, and bazaar at the French Institute, starting from March 10 to 25.
The International Day of Francophonie is observed annually on March 20.
