KUWAIT CITY, March 4 (Xinhua) -- The Embassy of Canada in Kuwait held on Monday an event on women empowerment ahead of the International Women's Day to promote partnership with the Gulf country.

The event was organized in collaboration with Canada's Business Women in International Trade (BWIT) program, a Canadian national program that provides targeted products and services to help women entrepreneurs go global.

Louis-Pierre Emond, Ambassador of Canada to Kuwait, said that gender equality, the empowerment of women, and the realization of their human rights are key Canadian priorities, saying that Canada has intensified its long-standing commitment to the human rights of women.

Diane Craig, one of representatives from Canadian companies participating in the event, said that the event will help promote potential partnership between Canadian businesswomen and local Kuwait organizations that support and deliver business opportunities for women entrepreneurs and exporters.

In addition, it also helps enhance awareness in Kuwait of the Canadian women entrepreneurship ecosystem and the inclusive approach to trade, she said.
