SINGAPORE, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.35 percent, or 11.23 points, to close at 3,222.84.
A total of 1.14 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 977.13 million Singapore dollars (about 719.80 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 180 to 175.
The STI index went up 0.52 percent, or 17.01 points, to close at 3,234.07 Tuesday.
