DAMASCUS, March 6 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government donated on Wednesday a batch of office equipment to the Syrian Foreign Ministry and Syrian Planning and International Cooperation Commission.

About 360 pieces of office equipment, including computers, printers, copy machines and scanners, were received by the two government institutions in a ceremony attended by Syria's Assistant Foreign Minister Ayman Soussan and Chinese Ambassador to Syria Feng Biao at the Foreign Ministry in the capital Damascus.

During the ceremony, Feng said he will continue to push forward the cooperation and communication between the two countries.

"China holds a firm stance toward the Syrian issue and the Chinese people stand by the side of the Syrian people and we share their good and bad times," he added.

Meanwhile, Soussan said the latest Chinese donation came as part of the strong historic friendship between China and Syria.

"This donation comes as part of the constructive Chinese stance toward the eight-year war in Syria and it adds to the strong foundation of the friendship between both countries," the Syrian official added.

Since the Syrian crisis broke out in 2011, the Chinese government has signed multiple agreements with international bodies, including the World Health Organization and the International Committee of the Red Cross, to provide medical and food aid to Syrian refugees.
