KUWAIT CITY, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait announced to cancel the use of residency stickers on foreigners' passports and replace it with adding data on the civil IDs, an official from the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.

It was part of ongoing efforts to develop and modernize various departments of the ministry, said Abdul Qader Al-Shaaban, director-general of the Residence Affairs Department of the ministry.

The sticker cancellation will be implemented on March 10, and the decision does not apply to holders of residence under Article 14 or those who received residence before the implementation of the new policy.

He added that the foreigner who holds a normal residence will not be allowed to enter or leave Kuwait unless he or she holds a valid passport and a civil card issued by the Public Authority for Civil Information.
