MANAGUA, March 6 (Xinhua) -- Nicaraguan police seized 150 kg of cocaine during an operation in the southern part of the country, the National Police's press office said on Wednesday.
The operation was carried out on Tuesday along the highway to the seaside resort of La Boquita in the municipality of Diriamba, the police said in a statement.
The drugs were found inside a hidden compartment in a small bus, which contained 131 packages with 150 kg of cocaine.
The bus driver fled the scene after the vehicle was intercepted, the authorities said.
In another operation carried out on Monday, the National Police captured Luis Alberto Mejia Gonzalez, a Guatemalan national, aboard a vehicle loaded with cocaine particles.
The arrest was made at the Nicaraguan southern border post of Penas Blancas, the police said.
