ACCRA, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Ghana is deepening efforts to make the west African country a more favorable place for doing business, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia said Monday.
These efforts were made in line with the World Bank Group's Doing Business Report over the past nine months, Bawumia said when a multi-sector team from across government agencies presented a reform plan to key stakeholders.
"These reforms are further demonstrations of government's commitment to removing the obstacles that have long kept businesses in Ghana from reaching their full potential," Bawumia said.
"We aim to unleash the Ghanaian entrepreneurial spirit and open our doors to the world," he added.
Ghana's reforms, according to the vice president, cover many aspects of doing business as well as many sectors, such as starting a business, obtaining construction permits, getting electricity, cross-border trading, and resolving insolvency.
The World Bank Group comprises five international organizations that make leveraged loans to developing countries. Its Doing Business Report provides objective measures for business regulations at the sub-national level. Ghana ranked 114th place in the report issued in November 2018.
