TEHRAN, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Winfried Schaefer, the head coach of Iran's Esteghlal soccer team, is satisfied with his team's performance against Al Ain of the UAE in Matchday Two of the 2019 AFC Champions League, Tehran Times daily reported on Wednesday.
Esteghlal were held to a 1-1 draw by Al Ain in Tehran's Azadi Stadium on Tuesday.
"First, I would like to thank our supporters who came to the stadium. We played very well, especially in the second half. With the way we played against Al Ain, we are not afraid of playing against Al Hilal, Al Duhail and Al Ain in the UAE," Schaefer said.
"We made a mistake and conceded a goal with a lack of concentration at the final moments of the match. This is football not play station," the German coach stated.
"I am very happy for coaching a team like Esteghlal. We will prepare ourselves for the upcoming matches against our opponents in the competition," Schaefer said.
After the second round of the games, Al Hilal tops the group with six points, followed by Al Duhail with three points. Al Ain and Esteghlal are third and fourth each with one point.
