ANKARA, March 15 (Xinhua) -- Turkey's unemployment rate rose to 13.5 percent in December 2018, the highest level since February 2010, official data showed on Friday.
Unemployment rate in December last year increased by 3.1 percentage points year on year, the Turkish Statistics Institute said.
The figure also hiked from 12.3 percent in the previous month, the statistical authority added.
The number of jobless people aged 15 and above in Turkey stood at 4.3 million, increased by 1 million compared with December 2017.
The institute also indicated that the unemployment rate of the youth aged 15 to 24 reached 24.9 percent with an annual increase of 1.8 percentage points.
As noted in Turkey's new economic program, which was announced in September 2018, the government aimed for an unemployment rate of 11.3 percent in 2018, 12.1 percent in 2019, 11.9 percent in 2020 and 10.8 percent in 2021.
