NEW DELHI, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Around 200 huts were gutted in a devastating fire in India's eastern state of Bihar, officials said Wednesday.

No loss of life or injury to anyone was reported in the fire.

The fire broke out Tuesday night at Ahiyapur in Muzaffarpur district, about 78 km north of Patna, the capital city of Bihar.

"Last night fire broke out in a slum here in which around 200 huts were gutted," Alok Ranjan Ghosh, district magistrate Muzaffarpur said. "We have dispatched government teams to the spot to set up relief camps for the help of victims."

The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Police officials said they were trying to ascertain the reasons that triggered the devastating blaze.

"The fire has been doused completely and now government is working out to provide financial help to the victims under the disaster relief fund," a disaster management officials said.

Chances of fire in Indian villages and cites are usually high as people usually ignore safety standards and store fuel and combustible materials in a haphazard manner.
