ACCRA, March 26 (Xinhua) -- The Ghana Football Association Normalization Committee (NC) launched its special competition for football clubs at the headquarters of the association in Accra on Monday night.

The tournament, which is expected to involve all 64 premier and second-tier teams, is scheduled to commence on March 30.

Last December, the NC announced the introduction of a new competition structure to revive official domestic football activities in the country and also make clubs more active.

NC president Kofi Amoah said the contest will be "used to test the reforms that will be brought on board, as well as the rapid adjudication of cases."

The winner of the competition's first-tier will represent Ghana in the next CAF Champions League, while the victorious team in the knockout stage will be the West African country's representative at the Confederations Cup.

Football activities in Ghana were halted in June last year after the release of a documentary by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas which exposed widespread corruption in the country's football administration.

The documentary implicated a number of people in the African football fraternity, including referees being caught on tape receiving bribes in order to compromise games.
