U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mostly higher

NEW YORK, March 28 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly higher on Thursday with eight of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on an upbeat note.

Shares of 58.com and Ctrip.com International rose 2.85 percent and 2.74 percent, respectively, leading the gainers in the top 10 stocks of the index.

Shares of Yum China Holdings and Baidu fell 0.97 percent and 0.11 percent, respectively, the only two losers in the top 10 stocks of the index.

U.S. stocks closed higher on Thursday, as investors have been closely following updates on global trade and digested a batch of mixed economic data.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 91.87 points, or 0.36 percent, to 25,717.46. The S&P 500 increased 10.07 points, or 0.36 percent, to 2,815.44. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 25.79 points, or 0.34 percent, to 7,669.17.

The Cboe Volatility index, widely considered the best fear gauge in the stock market, decreased 4.75 percent to 14.43 on Thursday.

As of Wednesday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 2,776.38, marking a 1.53-percent increase for the month-to-date returns and a 21.17-percent gain for the year-to-date returns.
