SINGAPORE, April 9 (Xinhua) -- More than 100 Chinese companies and organizations participated as exhibitors in the Sea Asia 2019, Asia's anchor maritime and offshore conference and exhibition, in Singapore on Tuesday.

These Chinese exhibitors, including China Classification Society, ICBC Financial Leasing Co. Ltd., China Ship Scientific Research Center and a group of shipbuilding-related companies from east China's Jiangsu province, constitute the Chinese pavilion, one of the 13 national pavilion attending the event.

Decorating their stand with a slogan of Creative Jiangsu, the companies from the coastal province made themselves attractive to many visitors.

Ma Yinfan, an official with the International Trade Promotion Center of Jiangsu province, said the Jiangsu companies come to the Sea Asia 2019 for the purposes of not only expanding the Singaporean market, but also looking for global market opportunities.

As part of the 14th Singapore Maritime Week that will be held on April 6-14, the Sea Asia 2019 was officially opened on Tuesday. The three-day event features more than 400 exhibitors from all over the world, and is expected to host more than 15,000 attendees from over 80 countries and regions, according to its organizer.

Janil Puthucheary, Singapore's Senior Minister of State in the Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Communications and Information, said at the opening ceremony of the Sea Asia 2019 that the maritime industry continues to carry 90 percent of global trade today despite facing challenges from players such as Alibaba and Amazon, tighter environmental regulations and increasing competition for talent.
