RAMALLAH, April 11 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian delegation will visit Washington to discuss with U.S. officials anti-terrorism funding and means to combat money laundering, the Palestinian Authority said Thursday.

Azzam Shawwa, head of the monetary authority, "will hold important talks with U.S. officials and congressmen over the strength of the Palestinian banking system," the Palestinian Authority said in a statement.

According to the statement, the meetings will address the role of the banking sector in enhancing Palestinian economy and address the steps taken toward the establishment of the Palestinian central bank.

The Palestinian-U.S. meetings come despite the ongoing Palestinian boycott of the U.S. government after U.S. President Donald Trump declared Jerusalem as Israel's capital in late 2017.
