LONDON, April 13 (Xinhua) -- China ended the first matchday at the inaugural FIFA eNations Cup with one win, one draw and seven losses here on Saturday, already eliminated with the final group match yet to play.

The tournament invited 20 team from six confederations to compete for the coveted championships and China is in Group B with Spain, the United States, New Zealand and Mexico.

Three games are played in the group match: two 1v1 matches on PlayStation and Xbox each, and a 2v2 match.

China lost to Mexico 2-0, 3-0, 4-0 in their opening match and registered two losses 4-1, 2-1 and one draw 1-1 against New Zealand.

The newcomers to the global stage, Ma Weilin and Jiang Junde, had to wait until the last game of the day for their first victory for team China, when they defeated Spain 3-2 in the 2v2 game after losing 4-0 and 2-1 in the 1v1 contests.

"I'm honored and excited to represent China," Jiang said. "But we still have much to learn from our opponents and we'll try our best to improve afterwards."

After the first matchday, England, Mexico, Argentina and Denmark sit on top of their respective group, with the final group match to be played on Sunday when the top two teams of each group that qualify for the knockout stage will be decided.

The ongoing FIFA eNations Cup will welcome on Sunday its first-ever winners, who will be awarded 40,000 U.S. dollars and 1,500 ranking points on the road to FIFA 19 Global Series Playoffs and the 2019 FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Finals.
