DAMASCUS, April 14 (Xinhua) -- Two land mines went off in northern and southern Syria on Sunday, killing one child and wounding seven others, a war monitor reported.

One of the land mines exploded in the Sukkari area in the Aleppo province in northern Syria, killing one child and wounding others while another mine went off in the southern province of Daraa, wounding seven people.

It's the latest explosions to be caused by land mines, which are mainly left by rebels in formerly rebel-held areas.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said in its report on Sunday that a total of 83 people, including women and children, have so far been killed across Syria by land mines since February this year.
