-- Chinese Kunqu Opera, Mei Lanfang Theater, 7:30 p.m., Beijing
The performance shows three classical pieces of Kunqu Opera including sections of the classic "The Peony Pavilion" and "The Jade Hairpin."
The masterpiece "The Peony Pavilion" was written by Chinese playwright Tang Xianzu (1550-1616) from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and has been put on stage overseas many times.
-- The last day of Picasso's painting exhibition in Shanghai Exhibition Center
The exhibition of the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso has lasted for a month and is scheduled to close Monday. In total, 81 works, including the world-famous painting "Guernica," sculptures and works of installation art, are displayed.
-- Chinese orchestra concert "Glamorous Yellow Land," Theater of Northern Shaanxi Folk Music, 7:30 p.m., Xi'an, Shaanxi Province
A traditional Chinese orchestra concert featuring the local folk music of northwest China's Shaanxi province is staged in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
The concert combines local folk songs with creative orchestration, and is aimed to fully showcase the charm of local folk music.
