N'DJAMENA, April 16 (Xinhua) -- The Chadian army killed 63 members of the Boko Haram terror group on Sunday night in the Lac region, local media reported on Monday, quoting a military statement.

Seven Chadian soldiers were killed and a dozen others wounded fighting back a Boko Haram attack around midnight on an army position in Mbohama, in the sub-prefecture of Kaiga Kindjiri, according to the statement.

This has been the second Boko Haram attack in recent weeks.

In mid-March, also in the Lac region, at least 23 Chadian soldiers were killed in a Boko Haram ambush.

Last week, Tahir Erda, Chad's newly appointed chief of defense staff, traveled to Lac to "urgently" implement a new approach to thwart the terrorist group, according to local press.
