PARIS, April 17 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Wednesday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.62 percent, or 34.42 points, to close at 5,563.09 points.
Of the 40 selected large companies, 31 gained in the day.
French global automotive supplier Valeo advanced 3.26 percent. French-based international ophthalmic optics company EssilorLuxottica rose 3.23 percent. French public relations company Publicis Groupe added 2.58 percent.
French mass media conglomerate Vivendi lost 0.58 percent. French multinational retailer Carrefour shed 1.38 percent and Pernod-Ricard, French multinational pharmaceutical company Sanofi went down by 2.72 percent. Enditem
