LUSAKA, April 18 (Xinhua) -- At least 14 people died while 15 others sustained serious injuries in a road traffic accident in northwestern Zambia's Solwezi district, the police said on Thursday.
Police Spokesperson Esther Mwaata-Katongo said the accident occurred around 7 p.m. local time on Wednesday, when a bus lost control and rammed into a stationary truck.
She said the accident was caused by excessive speed on the part of the bus driver who, after overtaking several vehicles, lost control and hit into the rear part of the broken down truck and trailer.
Among those who sustained serious injuries were three women and 12 men, she added.
