BEIJING, April 21 (Xinhua) -- The following are a selection of shows available in Beijing for the coming week:

The Wonderland of Baroque

Date: April 19-28

Place: Contemporary Art Museum, China Millennium Monument

Introduction:

It is a drama integrated by actions, music and digital art, which displays a Baroque artistic style on the stage. Telling the story of the magical adventure of the heroine, the child play is inspired by Les Indes Galantes, an opera-ballet created by renowned French musician Jean-Philippe Rameau.

170 Days in Nanking

Date: April 24

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Place: National Center for the Performing Arts

Introduction:

Based on real people and historical events, the opera is set in 1937 when Japanese invaders began to bombard Nanjing in September of that year. More than 20 foreigners, including German businessman John Rabe, establish the International Committee for Nanjing Safety Zone to provide humanitarian relief to civilians, saving 200,000 lives.

The opera is co-produced by Jiangsu Cultural Investment and Jiangsu Performing Arts Group and the production team comprises of artists from 16 countries and regions.

Cinderella

Date: April 25

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Place: Century Theater

Introduction:

Based on the centuries-old fairy tale of the same name, the ballet takes the heroine Cinderella on a journey to find true love. The ballet is performed by the Russian State Ballet, which is affiliated to the Ministry of Culture of Russia and has visited more than 80 countries and regions around the world.

Sleeping Beauty

Date: April 26

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Place: Century Theater

Introduction:

The ballet show, also performed by the Russian State Ballet, tells the classic fairy tale about a princess who is cursed to sleep for 100 years by an evil fairy and later awakened by a prince. Enditem
