CAIRO, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi said on Sunday that his country is keen to enhance strategic relations with the United States in all aspects.
Sisi's comments came during a meeting in the capital Cairo with visiting U.S. Senator Ronald Lee Wyden.
During the meeting, Sisi highlighted Egypt's eagerness to intensify the strategic ties based on mutual respect and interests with the United States, Sisi's spokesman Bassam Radi said in a statement.
For his part, Wyden praised cooperation between the two countries, hailing Egypt a cornerstone of security and stability in the Middle East and a pivotal partner of Washington in the region.
Egypt has been a key regional ally of the United States since the signing of a U.S.-brokered peace treaty with Israel in 1979.
