KUNMING, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Police in southwest China's Yunnan Province apprehended two suspects and seized more than 41 kg of drugs, the public security bureau of the city of Tengchong said Monday.
The anti-narcotics police in Tengchong received a tip-off in early April that two people were planning to transport a large amount of drugs from Myanmar to China. Police immediately set up an investigation team and dispatched officers to the border areas of Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture.
On April 16, police caught two suspects in Zhanxi Town in Dehong and seized 33.5 kg of methamphetamines and 8.37 kg of heroin from the trunk of their vehicle.
The case is under further investigation.
Yunnan is a major front in China's battle against drug crime, as it borders the Golden Triangle known for its rampant drug production and trafficking.
