KHARTOUM, April 22 (Xinhua) -- Sudan's Transitional Military Council (TMC) on Monday decided to open passages, roads and crossings, and remove barricades and control over movement of citizens and public vehicles, according to a statement by the council.

"Passages, roads and crossings are to be opened immediately to facilitate the various forms of movement in the capital and states to ensure flow of the necessary needs," said the statement.

The security committee in the council appealed to all the citizens to help the security authorities via immediate reporting of any negative phenomena that affects security, safety and daily life of the citizens, reiterating that it is seriously working to "steer the political, economic and security wheel."

On Sunday, Sudan's major opposition alliance announced suspension of negotiation with the TMC.

The alliance justified its move with what it called the unwillingness of the TMC to hand over power to a civilian government.

The TMC is tasked with running the country's affairs following the ouster of former President Omar al-Bashir.
