CHANGCHUN, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Ebook sales on JD.com, one of the leading e-commerce platforms in China, soared over 140 percent year on year in 2018, the JD Big Data Research Institute said.

Per capita book purchases grew slightly in 2018 compared with 2017 on JD.com, according to the report on book reading in China. Ebooks sales grew over 140 percent year on year, it said.

The report said readers still like to buy paper copies.

Sales of books on law, psychology, dictionaries and teaching materials for elementary and middle school students grew over 50 percent year on year, but books on cooking, living, photography and tourism became less popular, the report said.

The report concludes that reading is still an important means of self improvement for Chinese people.
