BANGKOK, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Leader of Thailand's Future Forward Party Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit has been ordered by the Election Commission (EC) to clarify in seven days the allegations that he had held shares of a media firm.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the EC has resolved to have Thanathorn, pitted as No. 1 on his party's list of candidates in the March 24 election, clarify to the polling agency the allegations that he held 635,000 shares of V-Luck Media Co after he had applied to run for MP in February.

The polling agency had conducted initial investigation into such allegations and compiled evidence to allege that Thanathorn may have breached the organic law on the election of MPs which prohibits electoral candidates from holding shares of media firms, according to the EC statement.

Nevertheless, the Future Forward leader is now given a seven-day time, beginning on Tuesday, to clarify himself over such allegations or to assign a lawyer to do so on his behalf, according to the EC statement.

He earlier contended that he had transferred all his shares of the little-known media firm to his mother and relatives before he applied to run for MP.
