BISHKEK, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Special services of Kyrgyzstan detained two students who are allegedly cross-border drug traffickers during recent search operations against drug trafficking, the press service of the State Committee for National Security reported Tuesday.

During the operations, a particularly large consignment of psychotropic substance, named "spice," with a total weight of 1.75 kg, was found and seized. This substance, worth more than 4,300 U.S. dollars on the black market, was intended for sale and consumption among young people in small lots.

The cross-border drug group, to which the two detainees belong, has created a sustainable channel for the transportation and sale of psychotropic substances in Central Asia, the report said.

Investigative and operational measures are being taken to identify persons involved in organizing the delivery of psychotropic substances into Kyrgyzstan, the report said.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, more than 790 kg of narcotic drugs and precursors were captured for illicit trafficking in the country over the past three months of 2019.
