BEIJING, April 25 (Xinhua) -- A government work team has been sent to investigate an accident at a construction site in north China's Hebei Province that claimed 11 people's lives, the Ministry of Emergency Management (MEM) said Thursday.

The MEM and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development have sent the joint work team to Hengshui city, where the accident happened, to help with emergency settlement and investigate the cause of accident.

Eleven workers were killed and two others were seriously injured after an elevator collapsed at a construction site in Hengshui Thursday.

The MEM urged local governments to learn a lesson from the accident and prevent similar cases.
