SINGAPORE, April 25 (Xinhua) -- The Food for the Future Summit 2019, organized by the Food Industry Asia (FIA), was held in Singapore on Thursday.
The conference attracted hundreds of global food innovators, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), government representatives, and food and beverage (F&B) industry leaders to attend and discuss the role of innovation in changing Asia's food ecosystem.
According to the FIA, the conference provided a critical platform for senior industry leaders, regulators, academia, start-ups, and regional NGOs to engage in discussions around current industry trends, opportunities, challenges and solutions to drive change, as Asia's F&B industry anticipates significant challenges and opportunities in the years to come.
Lim Kok Thai, Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), said in his opening address at the summit that there is potential in leveraging science, technology and innovation to overcome land and resource constraints, and grow more with less in a sustainable manner.
He acknowledged the role of this summit in furthering industry conversations to build a dynamic agri-food ecosystem in Singapore.
