TEHRAN, April 25 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Ministry on Thursday warned Saudi Arabia and Bahrain of the consequences of supporting the U.S. decision to end waivers for importers of Iran's oil.
Saudi Arabia and Bahrain are ignorant of "blind obedience of the U.S. move," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi said in a statement on Thursday.
The United States on Monday ended six months of waivers for Iran's oil buyers and demanded them to stop purchases by May.
Mousavi also said that Iran will not allow any country to replace its market share of oil exports and holds the United States, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain accountable for all consequences.
"The Iranian government and nation will never forget the enmity from certain countries in such a historic juncture," Mousavi was quoted as saying.
On Tuesday, Saudi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Assaf voiced the kingdom's full support for the U.S. decision to halt waivers for the customers of Iranian oil, saying Riyadh will continue efforts "to stabilize the oil market at all times by coordinating with other oil producers in order to ensure that sufficient supplies of oil are available to consumers."
Bahrain has also backed the U.S. move.
