Beijing holds anti-drug exhibition with real drug plants to educate public

BEIJING, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Beijing Botanical Garden on Sunday launched an anti-drug exhibition with real drug plants to educate and warn the public about the harm they can cause.

More than 100 drug plants, such as the poppies, marijuana and ephedra sinica, which are commonly seen in north China, were displayed in the Beijing Botanical Garden under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), according to the CAS.

Meanwhile, more than 800 ornamental flower plants which look similar to drug plants were also displayed with on-site instruction and display boards to educate the public.

The exhibition is a part of series of public-science programs of the CAS. It will last until May 20, and then all drug plants will be destroyed by the police, according to the CAS.
